Connect growth to a durable business
The company should gain capacity as it gains customers.
A growing user count matters when those users receive and create the value required by the model. If they do not return, pay, or achieve the intended result, the count may conceal weakness.
Growth can create tension between immediate profit and further expansion. Ask what the spending enables and whether the evidence supports it. Cash discipline keeps the company able to pursue the opportunity.
Stakeholders also carry different risks. Employees, lenders, investors, and founders can agree about the company while disagreeing about the next commitment. Understand the position behind their advice instead of assuming that disagreement means a lack of ambition.
Delegation and strong hiring increase the company’s ability to respond. Growth can then fund more capability. The result should be a business that depends less on the founder’s direct availability and more on a capable organization.
