Thanks for coming today.
So, we have something really exciting for you today.
Now Apple's been doing a lot of great stuff lately.
We shipped Mac 10.1 last month, an incredibly stunning upgrade to Mac OS X and we're getting
rave reviews for it from a lot of you folks in this room.
We updated our whole portable line last week, our PowerBooks and our iBooks, a lot of things
going on.
And we lured you here today with the promise of unveiling a breakthrough digital device
that's not a Mac.
And that's exactly what we're going to do.
So let's start with the digital hub.
This is a strategy that we announced in January of this year, about nine months ago.
And that strategy is that we believe the Mac can become the center of your digital lifestyle.
In other words, we're being surrounded by these amazing digital devices these days.
Digital cameras, digital camcorders, DVD players.
And we think that with the appropriate application software, the Mac can add tremendous value
to these devices and become an essential part of your life where you can't get along without
it.
And that's our digital hub strategy in a nutshell.
Now the most important of these devices are of course the digital camera, the digital camcorder,
DVD player and portable digital music players.
So how have we done?
Well we entered the year with an incredible app called iMovie2.
iMovie2 is so far ahead of anything else for consumer video editing.
We have millions and millions of people out there making movies on their Macs and it is
so easy to use you don't even have to read a manual.
We are way ahead of everybody else in this and Apple is now the largest video editing
supplier in the world, both at the pro and the consumer level.
We then followed it up in January with iTunes.
iTunes has been an incredible hit for us.
The easiest to use, most powerful digital music jukebox player on any platform.
Next, we introduced our SuperDrive and some of our Power Mac configurations, and we rolled
out iDVD, and we have now announced iDVD2, which will be shipping early November.
It's unbelievable.
can make your own DVDs that play in every consumer DVD player, which there are now over
20 million of in the United States alone.
And it's unbelievable.
And again, we are very far ahead of everybody else in this area.
And lastly, in photography, digital photography, we have built right into Mac OS X an application
called Image Capture, which is amazing.
You plug your camera right in and boom, your pictures are automatically imported and you
can do a bunch of stuff with them.
Now, a lot of people can draw charts like this on the blackboard, but we are delivering.
We have all four of these things covered.
And what I'd love to do is just show them to you right now, real quickly.
Let's go over here.
So the first thing I'm going to do is let me launch iMovie.
And as you know, you hook your camcorder up to iMovie.
You import your clips.
Up here, you can drag these clips down right into your timeline if you want to make a movie
with them.
And you can do some amazing things, too.
You can add transitions.
You can do push transitions or scale down transitions if you want to.
Just add these transitions very easily to your movie.
You can add titles and different effects.
As an example, I can say, let's make this a sepia tone.
You can add a soundtrack and even record your own voice in your movies.
And let me show you another fun thing you can do.
Let me just take a clip up here.
And I'll play this clip.
Oops.
This is a movie, by the way, that one of our customers sent in.
They send us a lot of these movies, so I just decided, let's just use a real one.
And I can take that clip and I can say, well, let's make that clip faster.
Let's go to the beginning here.
We can speed things up in iMovie.
And we can even go ahead and reverse the directions.
So we can do things like this.
And so let me just go play this movie again.
It was sent in by a customer.
Oops, I'm playing that one clip.
Let me go back and play the whole movie.
There we go.
Yeah.
How big is it that?
Hi.
This is so cool.
in
so those proud parents made that movie probably half an hour with i movie
and there's just nothing like it in the world so that's on
now let's say you've made some i movies and you want to put them on a dvd
uh... and sent your family what better way to share these things
team for a bunch of our movies on a dvd and you can even put uh...
digital photography on i dvd tens of thousands of digital photographs
and we've built an app IDVD and now IDVD2
that lets you build these DVDs create these DVDs
create the menus in minutes and then just push a button if you have a
system with SuperDrive on it and burn a DVD IDVD2
adds the most incredible feature to IDVD
and that is motion menus
so you can actually the buttons will actually display the contents of the
movie behind them
And you can even put a motion background and a soundtrack on your DVD and make these things literally in a few minutes.
Now, what we've done with iDVD2 is if you buy it on a Mac where we can load up the hard disk, we've actually loaded up a bunch of themes for you, too.
And so we have all these themes that you can have.
And let me go ahead and show you some of them.
Not all of them have soundtracks.
Not all of them have motion backgrounds, as an example.
but here's one that doesn't we can just see your movies uh... animating in the
buttons
here's another one through nice parchment
again you can't you know just move all these around you like
there's a great one
and
you can make this in a few minutes
or a dvd
sensitive
and
there's another fun one sports
Here's a great travel one.
Again you can just, very easy to move things around.
And then here's a great one if you have kids.
So again, to be able to take your iMovies and put as many of them as you want on a DVD,
put your digital photographs on, burn a DVD and send it to anybody you want.
This is one of the most amazing things we've ever done, I think.
We're very proud of it.
So that's iDVD.
Now, let's go on to iTunes.
We all know iTunes.
