Let ambition guide present work
Ambition becomes real through the strongest action you can take with your present means.
A large promise is easy to make. A useful result is harder. At the beginning, ambition often looks small because your means are small. The standard lies in how fully you use those means.
You might want to serve a whole market. Today, you can serve a few people exceptionally well. You might want a large operation. Today, you can build and sell the first useful version yourself.
The small starting point does not require a small goal. It requires a direct connection between the goal and the work. Keep the ambition large enough to justify the effort. Keep the next action concrete enough to complete.
Do not reduce the goal each time the work becomes uncomfortable. First examine the method, the evidence, and the assumptions. Change what the evidence rejects. Preserve the ambition when the opportunity still deserves it.
