Identify what wastes time
An environment becomes harmful when it repeatedly diverts effort from customers and useful work.
Some obstacles are visible. A procedure takes too long. A customer is difficult to reach. A necessary skill is scarce. Once visible, an obstacle can become a practical problem to solve.
Other obstacles arrive as attractive opportunities. A meeting offers status. An event offers attention. A funding application offers the feeling of progress. None of these automatically helps the business.
The important test is what the activity produces. Does it improve the product, create demand, or solve a necessary constraint? Does it give you information that changes a decision? If the answer is unclear, the activity can consume time without creating value.
Capital and people can sometimes be replaced. Time already spent cannot return. Protect it through priorities, clear decisions, and the refusal of distractions.
