Be resourceful without becoming cheap by habit
Save what does not add value and fund what changes the company’s ability to earn.
A limited budget can reveal a simpler method. Before buying, ask whether a smaller test or an existing resource can answer the question. Keep early mistakes inexpensive where possible. Spending more does not automatically produce better learning.
The opposite error is refusing an important purchase because it exceeds your familiar budget. A capable person, useful tool, or essential service can change the business. Examine the expected result and what must happen for it to appear. Then judge whether the company can support the commitment.
Do not buy an office or a larger team to feel legitimate. Wait for a concrete operating need. An inexpensive purchase with no useful purpose is still waste. A costly purchase can be sound when it produces sufficient value.
