Keep the relationship useful after the round
Capital creates the means for another stage; it does not prove that stage will succeed.
Return spending to the purpose of the round. A larger bank balance can delay the consequences of a weak model without improving it. Keep customer evidence central. Preserve the discipline that produced the opportunity.
Report through one reliable view of the business. Use consistent measures and explain what changed. Make disappointing information as understandable as positive information. State where a decision or useful help is needed.
Consider how later decisions affect the relationship. An existing investor’s choice about another round can influence how new investors interpret the company. Their decision can also reflect their own constraints. Discuss those conditions clearly instead of assuming every signal has one meaning.
Respect the capital entrusted to you. Funding, subsidies, and attention support work but do not prove that customers value it. Use them to create capability and evidence. Remain clear about who bears the downside.
