Build from customer revenue when the model permits it
Customer-funded progress gives you both evidence and negotiating room.
Bootstrapping means developing the company with available resources and customer revenue. It puts attention on what people will pay for and what delivery costs. Successful sales provide resources for another attempt. They also demonstrate execution beyond a presentation.
Some ventures need substantial investment before they can sell. Others can test an offer with limited means. Determine which situation applies. Neither route deserves automatic praise or rejection.
A company that can continue without a particular deal can assess that deal more honestly. Revenue and controlled costs make refusal more practical. Negotiation techniques cannot fully replace those alternatives. Build bargaining power through the business itself.
