Examine the whole business model
A good product can fail inside a weak business model.
A business model connects the value offered to the resources required. Its parts must work together. Examine the following elements:
- The value you offer.
- The customers who need it.
- The means of reaching them.
- The service required to keep them.
- The partners on whom you depend.
- The people, tools, materials, and capital you need.
Growth puts pressure on every element. A method that serves a few customers may fail with many more. Revenue can rise while delivery costs or service failures rise faster. Strengthen the model as well as the product.
Ask whether the method can work repeatedly, grow without matching cost increases, and retain enough value to continue. An attractive product still needs these supporting conditions.
